Köln Katedrali
Kuzey Avrupa’daki en büyük Gotik kilise olan Köln Katedrali, şehrin tek simgesi durumunda. Almanya‘nın Köln

şehrinde 1248’de yapımına başlanan katedralin yapımı 632 yıl sürerek, 1880 yılında açılıyor. Yaklaşık 7,000 m ’lik
alanda 157 metrelik yüksekliğiyle bu muhteşem kilise, Birleşmiş Milletler, Bilim ve Kültür Örgütü Dünya Mirası
Alanları listesinde yer alıyor.
Buranın bir diğer özelliğiyse, Papa XVI. Benedictus’un 2005’te düzenlenen Dünya Katolik Gençleri Günü’nde yaptığı
konuşma. Papa bu konuşmasında, milyonlarca kişiye Köln’ün Hristiyan alemi için kutsal bir şehir olduğunu, bunun
da yüzyıllardan beri kemikleri katedralde bulunan Üç Kutsal Kral’ın neden olduğunu söylüyor. Bu nedenle kilise,
dünyanın her yerinden ziyaretçi akınına uğruyor.
Cologne Cathedral
Cologne Cathedral, the largest Gothic church in northern Europe, is the only symbol of the city. The construction of the ca-
thedral, which was started to be built in 1248 in Cologne, Germany, took 632 years and opens in 1880. With a height of 157

meters on an area of approximately 7,000 m , this magnificent church is included in the United Nations, Science and Culture
Organization’s World Heritage Sites list.
Another feature of this place is about Pope XVI. Speech by Benedictus on the 2005 World Catholic Youth Day. In his speech, the
Pope tells millions of people that Cologne is a holy city for the Christian world, which is caused by the Three Holy Kings, whose
bones have been in the cathedral for centuries. Therefore, the church is flooded with visitors from all over the world.
