Hartum

Hartum, Sudan’ın başkenti ve en büyük ikinci şehridir. Şehir, Beyaz Nil ile Mavi Nil’in birleştiği yerde kuruludur. Hartum
şehrinin güneydoğusunda, Mavi Nil’in kıyısında Alve Devleti’nin başşehri Sûbâ bulunmaktaydı. Günümüz şehri 1821 yılında
Kavalalı İbrahim Paşa tarafından kuruldu. 1824 idare merkezi haline getirildi. İlk zamanlarda Mısır ordusu için bir karakol
görev yapan yerleşim zamanla bölgesel ticaret merkezi haline geldi. Nil üzerinde kurulu limanı, köle ve ticaret kervanları
güzergâhında konaklama merkezi olması nedeniyle gelişimini sürdürdü. Mısır Hidivliği döneminde yerleşim yabancı idareciler
tarafından yönetilmeye başladı.

Khartoum

Khartoum is the capital and second largest city of Sudan. The city is located at the junction of the White Nile and the Blue Nile. To the
southeast of Khartoum, on the shores of the Blue Nile, was the capital Sûbâ of the Alve State. Today’s city was founded in 1821 by Ibra-
him Pasha of Kavalali. In 1824, it became the administrative center. The settlement, which initially served as an outpost for the Egyptian
army, eventually became a regional trade center. The harbor built on the Nile has continued to develop as it is the accommodation center
on the route of slaves and trade caravans. During the Egyptian Khedive, the settlement began to be managed by foreign administrators.
